My family and I were big fans of Steve and his family. He has done so much for animals and people around the world. The world as truly lost a genuine person. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends, as well as his legion of fans who love and admire him even a year later and will continue to do so.

On earth in the animal kingdom
you were a king,
Through the creatures you lived
an eagle with wings.
A fight to the death passion so intense
communication through the soul
your gift they could sense.
Exuberance beamed from you
love of life so rare
brought to the nations attention issues
others would not dare.
Pandoras box has been opened
your legacy to live on
enthusiasm and determination
your spirit has shone.
A personality larger than life
your charisma did ooze
dedication to survival of wildlife
you would passionately choose.
Bright spirit so tame
yet so wild at heart
dream a dream make a difference
a soul ready to part.
Legend and a hero
an impression never forgot
men envied your bravery
women thought you were hot.
Goodbye crocodile hunter
the world loves you so much
all creatures and humans
every heart you have touched.
in gods kingdom for eternity
warrior hero with love
you were a messenger for peace
a national icon....a white dove

I've often seen Steve Irwin with his family; Terri, Bindi, and Bob; on televised episodes of "The Crocodile Hunter." I didn't ever expect to read the online news articles that told me about his final attack underwater by marine life. Steve was so often in danger, that I had started to hope he wouldn't take so many new additional risks for his program. A year later, I am thinking about what a difference his smilingly enthusiastic advocacy of animal conservation made during the time he was broadcasting. I'm glad that Bindi Irwin is going to continue her naturalist television show and bring her family's interest in animals to people all over the world. Good luck to all of the Irwins with the Australia Zoo, and with all of your continuing international wildlife visits and work.

Like the thoughts many, even though a year has passed it seems unreal. Looking at sites on line like this still make me cry with disbelief that such a wonderful person is no longer physically with us. God bless you all.

Over a year later and I too still cry when I think of what a tragic loss his was to the world.
Ironically, I never much liked him when he was alive. Knowing very little about him, just a clip or 2, I thought him to be very cocky and self serving, a great big show off.
Boy, did I realize how wrong I was. He changed the world, and my life as well.

Not many people i know watch the Animal Planet therefore not many people i know had heard of Steve Irwin before his trip to heaven filled newspapers. I have watched 'The Crocodile Hunter' and 'Croc Files' since i was 11 years old. His shows filled me with the courage that i could over come my own fears and be fearless like Steve. His shows mean a great deal to me and my two young children. My oldest is almost 3 and loves to watch Steve wrestling crocodiles and gets very anxious if she notices Terri nearby! Steve will be greatly missed by our lttle family. We send our hearts to all those closest to Steve and of course, Bindi, Terri and Robert. x

Ever since i was little i remember sitting infront of the T.V and watch Steves shows for hours. I used to get my pillow and pretend it was a crocodile and do the same thing he did! His love and passion for what he did reached me so much that his dream has become mine.
Eventhough he is no longer with us, I kno that his dream will go on for ever..
His dream will never die!! Bindi is such a great reflection of her father! I send many blessings and prayers to the Irwin family.
God Bless You All!!

I went to Australia Zoo in 2005. Unfortunately, the man that I thought was terrific in every way was not there that day. He was up in Cairns on a croc mission. On Sept. 4th, 2006, I was devastated to learn that he had died. This enthusiastic man and his love of all living things and his efforts to educate the public was gone forever and I still weep for him whenever I think of him. How could he die? He was our hero! I know Bindy will keep her father's dream alive and keep up the amazing work Steve started. Steve - we miss you terribly. I can't wait to meet you in heaven!!!!!

I can't believe Steve Irwin, the best since Tarzan has been dead for almost a year. He was always my idol for I adore all animals and always thought it was a great thing he did. I am so sorry that he died and I hope that Bindi will carry on his legacy to try to make people more friendly with animals.

Hard to believe it's been a year. The best tribute networks can pay him it to keep brodcasting his shows and to keep his dream alive in people's hearts. And the best way we as citizens can pay tribute is to remember him because people who are remembered last forever.
Rest well, Steve. The world misses you.
