The death of Steve Irwin has touched me deeply, but more then that, his life and work has touched me even deeper. His passion for the animals and the environment around them, has opened the minds of many. The world is a better place thanks to Steve.

You were like me in every way.We both were born in february ,yours being on the 22 mine is on the 9th.As a child I discovered that animals a being hurt and killed because us humans are taking over the landscape for some selfish things, without giving enough back.As you grew to be a tree monkey,I was the same.We are like twins , always doing what the other does. Having the same instict.After the days I watched you I was like 2 years old ,you became my hero,my mentor,my favorite t.v show.

With your passing, it was the first time I actually plopped down on the couch in shock when I saw the news on TV. I felt my heart break for you, your family and my own kids who are not going to see "The Croc Man," anymore. I can't say that many famous people affect me and my daily life, but with you it was different. I was captivated with you, your family and your shows because of your sheer joy and belief of what you were doing. Because of this I felt as if I knew you and you were a part of our Families lives. I felt such sadness, as if someone from my own life was gone. I adored you, I loved watching you, Terri and your kids and was always fascinated with your vibrant, larger then life personality. I know you are looking down right now watching your family and I'm sure you are as proud and in "awe" of Bindi as the rest of the world was when she spoke about you. Her speech is a testimonial to your life, the way you lived, loved and were raising your family. You did well my friend and you will be missed by this USA citizen more then you will ever know. Steve, even though we had never met I really felt as if I lost a great friend. I grew up catching anything I could from snakes to rabbits and I still love getting outside and finding what nature has to offer. To see you out there doing what you loved and finding wildlife all over the world and teaching us all you knew about them was awesome. I tuned into your show all the time. You loved life and you were very geniune..something that is hard to find in people these days. I loved the episode of you catching not only sea snakes in Indo but the footage of you surfing Indo as well. You were stoked man!!!! You didn't miss out on anything! I saw some sea snakes while snorkeling the other day. Everytime I see them I think of you man! Like I said, you were (are) genuine. So many people these days don't even appreciate a beautiful sunset any more and here you were appreciating everything! If only there were more like you. You will never be forgotten!
Thanks for everything, your conservation, your education, your enthusiasim towards living on earth, your zoo (which I got to visit last year) and everthing else you did. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Reptile park has changed a lot since 1987 when I visited and so has the world thanks for Steve Irwin and his family.
Although no one can replace a husband,daddy or son, at least his love for family and the world's animals will be felt through his compassion of conservation.
May Terri, Bindi and Bob eventually find joy in the nature and animal population that Steve worked so hard to save and rehabilitate.
Bindi, your right... Let's help your Daddy to keep his dreams and hard work alive. It's worth it.
