I can still recall the first time we ever watched the crocodile hunter on AP. Steve was the most passionate man any of us had ever seen! He loved animals, and he loved his family and life. No one has ever been as dedicated to preservation, conservation or education of wildlife in our time. There is a gaping hole in the world of animals---and his presence will be sorely missed. He can never be replaced, and animals will suffer as a result of his untimely passing. His wife and family are left with a legacy more powerful than anyone before him. My thoughts are with Terri and their children. I think of them every day, and know they must be struggling with their loss. He was the most dedicated man, and so very passionate about life. I just can not imagine the world without him in it. Now, we must live with the reality, and only hope God provides someone to step into his path and carry on in his memory. God Bless you Steve. We will all miss you, forever. Until again...take care--and watch over all of us from the other side. We need you, in any and every capacity possible! Thanks for all you did. You saved more animals than you ever fathomed. You taught people to love creatures they never even thought about. They too...became preservationists. You touched every soul, and every heart--in ways you never imagined. You were the sun, the moon and the entire galaxy all rolled into one!! Keep on shining. All we have to do is look UP--and we can still see your smile beaming down from the heavens. Peace.

Steve,
You were my hero. I've cried and cried ever since I heard you died. When I woke up the day after the tradegy, I hoped that I was dreaming. I asked my Mum if you were really dead. And, she said, with tears in her eyes, Yes.
I have learned so much about animals in Australia and overseas. I have watched you on Animal Planet since I was 2 - you have made me aware of all of the conservation issues throughout the world.
One day when I'm an Adult, I hope to make a difference too.
I am especially sad for Bindy and Bob, and Terri too. I will never ever forget you Steve.

My heart goes out to Terri and her kids. I know she will be strong through this for her kids. I was in the hospital with my husband when we saw the news and I was shocked. It was like Princess Diana dying. both were wonderful giving people. Steve touched many peoples lives through his shows and all of his work with wildlife. I will miss his contagious smile and sense of humor. He seemed to be a devoted husband and father and he lived life to the fulness which showed everytime you saw him. We will miss him. Are prayers are with all of the family and the zoo family in this terrible time of grief. may you find peace knowing he's in Gods hands now.

To Terri, Bindi and little Bob,
The loss of this husband and father must be devastating. His great love for animals was only surpassed by his love for his family. He was a man of tremendous passion and he ignited others to want to make a difference. Thank you to this site where we can say good bye to this man and thank his family for allowing us to say how much we loved him too.
